January 2025 SIX OUT OF SIX
 The Blues won their
sixth successive match with a fine 3-0 victory at
Radcliffe last night to stay on top of the league.
After a fairly even opening period, Tom Peers broke
the deadlock in first half stoppage time heading
home from a Declan Weeks corner. Two goals in four
minutes midway through the second half from Weeks
and Peers sent the hundreds of Blues fans who made
the trip to the Neuven Stadium home happy.

Chester now sit one point above Scunthorpe United
and what is a very tight group at the top of the
table. Just six points separate the top six sides,
with several of the teams having games in hand on
                              the Blues.

Next up is a trip to Peterborough Sports who currently
sit mid-table, the match on Saturday kick’s-off
                              at 15.00hrs.

 TABLE TOPPERS
 Chester moved to the
top of the league following a fine 4-2 victory away
at Scarborough Athletic on Saturday. The Seadogs
had the better of the opening period and deservedly
took the lead on 30 minutes through Dom Tear, but
a minute before the interval the Blues leveled as
a perfect Declan Weeks through ball set Fin Roberts
away and he scored with a fine left footed strike
across Ryan Whitley on the home goal.

An own goal from Will Thornton gave the Blues the
lead on 63 minutes their joy was short lived through
as Tear found the net again moments later to draw
the home side level. Chester were awarded a penalty
on 75 minutes after Weeks had been tripped in the
penalty area. Fin Roberts took the kick only for
Whitley to block his effort, Weeks was the first
to react and score from the rebound.

Deep into stoppage time substitute Dan Mooney wrapped
up the points in style thundering home an unstoppable
                              shot from outside the box.

night’s narrow 1-0 home win over Spennymoor

as Chester pushed for the opening goal. Nine minutes
from time a Nathan Woodthorpe shot from the edge
of the box came back off the foot of the post out
to Mooney who controlled the ball before curling
in a shot at the far post.

 CHESTER UP TO THIRD
 Chester’s fine
run in the league continued on Saturday when they
backed up away victories at Buxton and Leamington
with three more points following a 2-0 victory over
                              Alfreton Town at Deva Stadium.

After a goalless opening first half it was man of
the moment Harrison Burke who opened the scoring
on 71 minutes netting the rebound after Connell
Rawlinson had seen a header from a corner rebound
off the post. It was defender Burke’s fourth
goal in the last five matches.

Ten minutes later Chester doubled the lead and sealed
the points as Declan Weeks’ through ball saw
Tom Peers race through on loan and coolly lob the
                              advancing ‘keeper David Robson.

The victory lifts Chester into third spot ahead
of their next match at home to Spennymoor Town on
                              Tuesday night, kick-off 19.45hrs.

 CHESTER WIN AT LEAMINGTON
 First half goals from
Charlie Caton, Tom, Peers, Kurt Willoughby and Harrison
Burke set Chester on their way to a 4-1 victory
at Leamington last night. It’s the first time
they’ve won at the New Windmill Ground, indeed
it’s the first time they’ve even scored
there! The home side were reduced to ten men when
Dan Meredith was sent off just before half-time
for something he said to the referee.

Chester contrived to hit the woodwork twice in the
second half before the Brakes scored a late consolation
goal. The victory lifts Chester into fifth place,

Woods from Warrington Town. He has signed a two

part of the deal the striker will not be able to
play when the two sides meet again in March.

Woods is expected to go straight into the squad
who play at Leamington tomorrow night.

 MASON DEPARTS CHESTER
 Goalkeeper Cameron
Mason has left the club. The 28-year-old signed
for the Blues last summer and made 7+0 appearances
for the club. He started the season in goal but
was injured in the home win against Scarborough
Athletic at the end of August. He since had a loan
                              period at Matlock Town.

Postscript: Mason has now signed for Bradford (Park
Avenue) until the end of the season.

 AWAY WIN LIFTS BLUES
 Two goals from Charlie
Caton, another from Harrison Burke and a first for
the club from Jack Bainbridge gave Chester a great
4-2 victory at a cold Buxton on Saturday. Full credit
goes to the home club for their efforts in clearing
the pitch and terraces of snow to ensure that the
game, one of only two played in the division, could
                              go ahead at all.

Chester gave a debut to Jimmy Storer in goal but
it was the hosts who opened the scoring on 18 minutes
through Ethan Fitzhugh. Their lead lasted only two
minutes with Caton netting the equaliser from close
range. BUcks regained the lead on the half hour
through Luke Brennan from the penalty spot after
Storer had brought down Tommy Elliott in the box.

The Blues were awarded a penalty of their own on
39 minutes for handball that Caton duly dispatched
the level the scores before Burke volleyed home
just before half-time to give Chester the lead at
                              the interval.

Bainbridge completed the scoring on 58 minutes his
low shot finding the net giving goalkeeper True
Grant no chance. The victory lifts Chester to sixth
place ahead of Tuesday night’s league match
                              away at Leamington, kick-off 19.45hrs.

Wadsworth made his debut at left back though he
was replaced by Nathan Woodthorpe at half-time.
Both sides largely cancelled each other out, Chester
had the better of the chances in the second period
with Tom Peers and Kurt Willoughby both going close
but it was to be another frustrating afternoon for
the Blues who remain in eleventh place, just a point
of the play-off’s, following this draw.

The Blues are not back in action until Saturday
11 January when they travel to play Buxton, kick-off
                              15.00hrs.
