VICTORY OVER FLEETWOOD

Goals from Anthony Dudley, James Hardy and Jude Oyibo gave Chester a 3-0 victory over a Fleetwood Town Development Squad side this afternoon as Chester continued their pre-season build-up. They are next in action on Wednesday night with a home game against a Bolton Wanderers X1, kick-off 19.00hrs. You can pre-buy tickets for that match here.

ANDY HIGGINS 1960-2021

Former Chester City player Andy Higgins has passed away in Australia at the age of 61. A versatile player he featured in both attack and defence in his 19 Football League appearances for the club.

LATE DEFEAT AT TRAFFORD

Two goals from George Waring and a third from Jamie Morgan weren’t enough, as the Blues lost an entertaining encounter 4-3 last night at Northern Premier League Division One North side Trafford, who clinched their win with a goal two minutes from time.

DENNIS KEATING 1940-2021
Chester FC are sorry to learn of the passing of former player Dennis Keating who made a single Football League appearance for the club, against Bradford City, in the 1962/63 season. A tricky winger he retired from football at an early age to join a religious order and was well known in later years for his work as a priest in the Catholic parishes of St Columba and St Theresa.

WIN AT RADCLIFFE

First half goals from Simon Grand and Darren Stephenson gave Chester a 2-1 victory at Radcliffe in their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Chester: Gray, Roberts, Cowan, Livesey, Grand (Morgan 36), Glendon, Weeks, Hardy (Clark 65), Johnston (Oyibo 65), Stephenson (Clarke 82), Dudley (Marsh-Hughes 82). Subs not used: Worsnop, Burke, Williams.

CONVINCING VICTORY AT NORTHWICH

Chester ran out 5-1 winners against North West Counties Football League Premier Division side Northwich Victoria at Wincham Park last night. Declan Weeks had given the Blues a half-time lead and further goals after the break from Anthony Dudley and John Johnston extended the lead. Brady Lynch pulled a goal back for the home side before Lloyd Marsh-Hughes and a second from Dudley wrapped up the victory late on.

HOME WIN FOR BLUES

Second half goals from George Glendon, Matty Williams, Harrison Burke and James Hardy saw Chester beat a plucky Bury AFC side, who came back twice to equalise against Chester, 4-2 at a very hot Deva Stadium on Saturday. Anthony Dudley had earlier missed a first half penalty for Chester.

TWO MORE SIGNINGS

Chester have signed two more players following their summer Talent ID Event. They are 22-year-old defender Aidan Roxburgh who was previously at Runcorn Town, 19-year-old midfielder Taylor Dyson who had been playing recently for Cheadle Heath Nomads. Both players have now been loaned out to Trafford FC on a dual registration basis.

PRE-SEASON CONTINUES

The pre-season continued over the weekend when Chester hosted Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. The Blues were giveN a good run-out by the League One side who scored either side of the break to go away with a 2-0 victory in front of a crowd of 721.

On Sunday a youthful looking side won 1-0 at Clitheroe thanks to a second half goal from Ethan Cartwright.

HOME START FOR BLUES

Chester kick-off their new National League North campaign with a home fixture against Curzon Ashton on Saturday 14 August. This is followed by a trip the following Saturday to Farsley Celtic. As last season, the Blues have a double header over the Christmas/New Year period against AFC Telford United. The season concludes on Saturday 7 May with a trip to Brackley Town.

PRE-SEASON UNDERWAY

There were four goals on his debut for Zack Clarke as Chester’s pre-season got underway with a comprehensive 6-0 victory at Elton Vale. Also on the scoresheet, and giving the Blues a 2-0 half-time lead, were Declan Weeks and another debutant Jude Oyibo

The National League North fixtures for 2021/22 will be released at 13.00hrs this Wednesday 7 July. The season gets underway on Saturday 14 August.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY FRIENDLY

Chester have arranged a pre-season friendly at home to Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday 10 July, kick-off 15.00hrs. The match is all-ticket and will be for home supporters only. Prices are: Adults £12, Concessions £10, 18-21yrs £5, 12-17yrs £3, Under 12s £Free. Tickets can be bought online here. For those who can’t make it, the match will be streamed live for £6.99 the match pass will be going live next week.

The club have issued the following rules for entry to the stadium

Supporters must not attend the stadium if they, or anyone in their social bubble:-

Have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 10 days
Have been contacted by an NHS Contact Tracer and asked to self-isolate
Are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 (including a new continuous cough, high temperature, or a loss of or change in sense of taste or smell)
Are in contact with a member of their household experiencing symptoms of Covid-19

Anyone with suspected symptoms of Covid-19 will be refused entry to the ground.
Arrive in good time to go through all necessary entry procedures.
Make sure in advance that you know where your entry point is, and, if an entry time is specified on your ticket, be there on time.
Be aware that your temperature might be taken on entry.

TRAINING CAMP FOR BLUES
Following tomorrow’s opening pre-season friendly at Elton Vale, Chester will be heading off on Monday to a five day behind closed doors training camp based at the University of Bangor.
