BLUES HELD AT TELFORD
Nearly 1,000 Chester
fans made the trip to the New Bucks Head to see
Chester draw 0-0 at AFC Telford United on Boxing
Day. The Blues gave a debut to defender Alex Brown,
one of four changes to the side beaten by Farsley
in the FA Trophy, Kole Hall, Liam Edwards and Kevin
Roberts also made the starting X1 with Iwan Murray,
Joe Lynch and Adam Thomas starting on the bench.
It was a game of few chances with the home side
having the better of those with harry Tyrer saving
well to deny Brendon Daniels from his free kick.

Nathan Blissett late on.

MANAGER OF THE MONTH
Calum McIntyre has
been named National League North Manager of the
Month for November. Chester won four and drew two
of their six league games during the month, scoring
12 goals and keeping three clean sheets in the process.
A delighted Calum told the official club website:
“It’s obviously nice to be recognised
for the work during a period of time and I am very
humbled to receive this award, but I think it would
be much more appropriate to reflect on the achievements
of the team during November and across the season
so far.
“I am merely the individual when in truth
I am being recognised for the performances of the
team that I am honoured to work with day in day
out. It is the performances of our group of players
that put together such a fabulous run of form and
it is important they are recognised as the impressive
collective that they are. “Equally,
the team behind the team, Colin Woodthorpe, Mike
Allcock, Luke Davies, Liam Stoneley and Tom King
as well as the team of volunteers behind the scenes
have more than played their part in the small
recent success.
“Togetherness is everything
for us at this club and any successes, awards or
individual accolades that are won will be won and
recognised together as a group.”

FRIDAY NIGHT FEVER
Chester pulled in
their highest crowd of the season on a cold foggy
Friday night as 2,268 saw the Blues overcome a dogged
Blyth Spartans 1-0 at Deva Stadium. The only goal
of the game came in the opening ten minutes as top
scorer Kurt Willoughby beat the offside trap to
latch onto a through ball from Charlie Caton and
steer the ball past Alex Mitchell in the Spartans
goal.
Blyth saw plenty of possession throughout the game
but failed to create any clear cut chances to test
home ‘keeper Harry Tyrer. It was Chester who
missed the opportunities to double their lead as
Willoughby saw a great chance saved just before
half-time and Weeks saw an effort saved late on.
The visitors were reduced to ten men as Jordan Hickey
saw red following a late challenge as Weeks broke
away down the left.
