There's an old saying that..... There's an old saying that "you can fool some of the people all of the time; and you can fool all of the people some of the time. But you can't fool all of the people all of the time". For the ISA Committee read, "you can't speak for the membership all of the time". We always try to reflect the views of the membership, especially those expressed via democratic means at membership meetings, but unless we know it, we can't show it. One thing that we can reflect, however, is the range of emotions gone through by City fans from Saturday to Tuesday this week. On Saturday, against Whyteleafe in the Axxa FA "It's a knockout" competition, it was one of relief as Wayne played his joker, quickly followed by a get out of jail free card, to prevent what would have been an embarrassing score line. On Sunday, it was one of enjoyment as the Club staged a very successful open day that delighted everyone attending. On Monday it was compassion and sympathy for the family of ISA member and life-long City fan Anthony O'Brien, who had sadly passed away the previous week; and there was recognition and gratitude for the sensitive words and actions of numerous representatives of the football club, not least Terry Smith. On Tuesday there was trepidation about the trip to Shrewsbury, where we never, ever win and bewilderment as we saw the lads trot out in sky blue and white stripes!! Incidentally, how come visibility at Gay Meadow was better under lights than it is on a Saturday afternoon? Optimism grew, the longer the game went on and changed to sheer delight as Ricco scored with an absolutely, positively, definitely, unequivocally perfect free kick off the underside of the angle. It changed to tension asthe makeshift defence subsequently performed heroics to further enlarge Wayne's wage packet with another clean sheet. At the final whistle itwas unadulterated exuberance as Blues fans sang "we're not bottom anymore" and home fans shook their heads in dismay at all the missed chances as we joined them on 12 points. League position and team matters are regular talking points among the fans of every club. When relegation is at stake, not unnaturally the concern becomes greater and questions are inevitably raised. The scheduled series of supporters' meetings present ideal opportunities for constructive discussion with coaches and/or management. We are continually asked about the position of the ISA share issue which was a key item at the last members' meeting. The directors of ISA Ltd. will be writing to all applicants in the very near future explaining the position regarding the due diligence enquiries. We thank you all for your patience.
